If you enjoy generating excitement for events, shopping, dining and tourism, this position may be for you! We are seeking an enthusiastic Marketing Associate to grow relationships and effectively promote downtown Riverhead’s strengths and offerings to fuel connection and growth.
Our dream-come-true Marketing Associate will engage with the downtown business community and strategize collaborative curation to maximize public reach and engagement. This team member reports to the Executive Director of the Riverhead Business Improvement District [BID] but is highly dependable on a third-party culture of exploration and innovation. Superb human communication skills and a proactive approach are imperative for success in this role.

Strong design, writing and communication skills
Experience in web, eblast and social media management
Outgoing, energetic, positive and highly adaptable to new surroundings
Organized self-starter with an entrepreneurial approach; hyper detail-oriented and stellar project management skills

DUTIES
Assist in the development of content for social media and email marketing campaigns (write/edit copy, capture photo/video, interviews, graphics etc)
Monitor social channels
Update website, digital channels, calendar and media listings
Prepare and distribute press, print and promotional material
Attend and assist with events, as needed
Collaborate with the executive director on creative marketing and outreach initiatives
Deliver monthly analytic and engagement reports
REQUIREMENTS
Portfolio of projects and/or resume listing experience that reflects the skills necessary for this position (2+ years of proven experience in a similar role is preferred)
Knowledge of Gsuite, Excel/Sheets, Zoom, Canva, Creator Studio, social media; bonus points for Adobe, CRM, Grammarly, e-commerce, project management program(s)
Devices with current technology ie. smartphone, camera, computer; proficient in learning new programs and processes
Dependable cellular and WiFi service for remote work
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while overseeing and participating in functions and events; ability to reach, bend, lift as necessary with or without accommodation; ability to lift/carry to help move equipment and supplies to set up events
Valid drivers license
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Part-time, hybrid, year-round; approx 15-30 hours per week*
$25/hour based on experience, paid semi-monthly
+ stipend for content collection (ie. food/beverage/events/incidentals)This part-time position offers a hybrid remote/in-person incentive for a high-performance individual, with respect for deadlines and deliverables. A complete in-office option is available if preferred.
Increased seasonal demand May-October; candidate is expected to visit multiple sites, increase content collection, attend events and assist the executive director, as needed (all in-person work takes place in Riverhead).
*Opportunity to increase hours by assisting the director with additional tasks.
IN-PERSON, RIVERHEAD
Team meeting 1-2x per week (May-October), and on an as-needed basis
Capture content at multiple sites across downtown Riverhead; make your own schedule but must be aware and take advantage of impromptu creative opportunities and community happenings (occasional evenings, weekends and holidays)
Attend pre-scheduled events*
